Although we have a large collection of books in the Chef's Armoury travel library this is one little book with a permanent place in our suitcase on each trip to Japan. Robb Satterwhite we can't thank you enough for helping us decifer menus from small town Seki to downtown Osaka.
If you haven't already noticed we give this book a big three thumbs up.
Part 1 is about Japanese restaurants in general, a few tips on pronunciation, some standard phrases and tips on etiquette.
Part 2 is where the fun starts. There is a blow by blow listing of the types of specialty restaurants and their fares. Each menu item is written in Japanese, a romanised version and a brief description in English.
This book is not just a must have for the traveller but for anyone with a keen interest in Japanese cuisine.
