Oden is a very popular simmered dish in Japan that normally appears at the beginning of winter at the local Izakaya, Standing Bar and even in convenience stores. It comprises of a selection of fish cakes, daikon, egg, konnyaku, shiitake and other items simmered for a long period in a light stock.

Oden's cousin, Nabe is served in homes throughout Japan. it is cooked in a communal pot placed in the centre of the dinner table. A variety of meat, seafood and vegetables are simmered in broth and sometimes rice is added at the end to soak up the remaining soup.

In this free session you will learn how to make tasty and authentic simmered dishes that you can enjoy at home.
