Green Tea
Buddhist monks were responsible for importing the first green tea plants into Japan. Circa 1100AD green tea spread in popularity beyond the religious class and the first green tea farms were established in the Uji area of Kyoto, now known to be the pinnacle green tea growing district in Japan. High hills, cedar forests and gentle mountain streams create a unique microclimate that is perfect for growing high quality tea.
Green tea from Uji is known to be high in Catechins and Theanine as well as essential vitamins A, C, E and Niacin. Most green tea on the market (even from specialty tea stores) sadly lacks these essential vitamins. If you drink green tea for health, only buy high quality green tea from a trusted source.
