Years ago Chef’s Armoury discovered that almost all wasabi found in local grocers and Japanese restaurants wasn’t really wasabi at all but a blend of horseradish, cornflour, soylent green and other mysterious ingredients with a token dash of the real thing (if you’re lucky) thrown in for good measure.

That’s right on par with finding out the truth about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and don't even get me started about the Easter Bunny.

Well rest assured kiddies, Chef’s Armoury now offer 100% Wasabia Japonica powder to put the fun back in the Christmas Stocking.

We source this very special powder from the most successful grower of wasabi rhizome outside of Japan. The NZ farms from where we source this premium product adheres to strict (but not certified) organic practices to produce an unadulterated treat rarely enjoyed in the Southern Hemisphere.

Just take a teaspoonful of the powder and mix with enough water to form a stiff paste, wait for 5-7 minutes for the flavour to develop and ‘POW’ you will cry tears of joy. Serve with freshly sliced sashimi, a juicy grilled piece of meat or mix with a dollop of mayo for something extra special.
