Mcusta Knives
Since the 1960's Mcusta has been making outdoor knives in Seki City, Japan. They use a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern day technology to create blades that are both beautiful in use and aesthetic.
The process starts with the design team using 1000's of hours of research to design each new product using 3D CAD to ensure the ultimate in ergonomics. From there individual components are CNC machined and then hand assembled and sharpened by master craftsmen.
PRO Damascus Series
This range of professional level knives from MCUSTA feature 33 layer damascus blades with a fully integrated stainless steel bolster.
The pakkawood handles have been shaped for comfort and are enhanced by a stainless end cap. Pakkawood is a laminate that is fused together under great heat and pressure with thermogenic resins to create a product with all the benefits of a plastic combined with the beauty of natural wood. It is highly durable, dimensionally stable and can withstand humid environments.
Special tempering technique
Much is said about HRC (hardness) but hard blades can still be brittle. Mcusta use a special vacuous kiln for tempering that gives the superior strength as well as high hardness. That feeling of rigidity is conveyed from the first moment you pick up a Mcusta.
The Edge
Mcusta have developed a special edge grind to give superior more accurate cutting. Although not single sided the blade does have a slight bias to one side and is finished with a 1mm bevel to give you straight accurate cuts. From our experience this knife is a pleasure to use.
