This sharpening stone is used for repairing chips and recreating a bevel on badly worn knives. Because of the soft abrasive material used this 220 grit is less aggressive on the blade and has a smoother sharpening action than regular stones.
This series of sharpening stones from Naniwa have the words “[new ceramics] Fine sharpening taste as natural stone gives” proudly printed on each stone. After much head scratching and rigorous testing we are pretty sure it means they have a similar feel to quarried whetstone.
These stones are made from tightly packed resin bonded grit and have the following advantages:
The Naniwa Superstone series ranges from 220 to 12000 grit and are all made via the same resin bonded process to give a consistent “feel” through the sharpening process
Each stone is 225mm x 68mm x 20mm thick and comes with a sturdy plastic stand and non-slip rubber nibs.
