Herb Scissors - Hammer Forged

These black forged "Nigiri Basami" are made from SK5 carbon steel with an outer layer of soft iron. In the kitchen they can be used for harvesting and trimming herbs, cutting twine when trussing, opening those annoying packets and a whole host of other tasks.

This style of scissor is also coveted by dressmakers for accurate trimming of threads and unpicking tasks.

Excellent sharpness and edge retention.

Please note: These are forged from carbon steel and will rust if left wet. Dry after use and apply a little camellia oil in humid environments or if storing for long periods.

Care Instructions

Care for 100% carbon steel

  • Never put in the dishwasher.
  • Do not cut through bones, frozen foods or extremely dense items like galangal or rosemary stalks.
  • This blade is 100% carbon steel, due to the nature of carbon steel this blade will tarnish and form a patina. This is to be expected and is nothing to worry about. The patina also helps protect against rust.
  • Do not leave wet on the bench or it may rust. Dry thoroughly after washing and do not store unless fully dry.
  • We highly recommend camellia oil and rust cleaner for maintenance.
