Profile

Makoto Chef Knife 210mm

An excellent blade for precision cutting but tough/strong tasks should be avoided.

Makoto Damascus Series

Makoto Kurosaki is the older (and some say wiser) brother of the other Kurosaki. He is a sharpener by trade and after trading in his previous career making traditional Japanese harvesting sickles, makes knives under is own 'Makoto" brand. His sickles were legendary and his knives are getting a fast following.

Makoto-san has worked his way through the VG series of steel and has settled on rare VG7 as his steel of choice. Subtle layers of damascus are graduated down to a cutting edge in a hamaguri (clamshell) style to create a fine cutting edge. These blades are thinner than most so a little care is needed when using.

If you are a lover of sharp knives and all of the responsibility that comes with ownership, these knives will put a smile on your face.

The handles are a simple, understated solid piece of ebony with no bolster.

  • Rare VG7 steel
  • 50:50 symmetrical edge grind for left/right handers
  • Japanese style "wa" handles in ebony wood for secure grip
  • Strictly limited production

Chef's Armoury are the official importers of Makoto Kurosaki knives in Australia.

  • Do not cut through bones, frozen foods or extremely dense items.
